Helping Kids Thrive was started in 1990 by a coalition of community organizations who were concerned about the high incidence of youth suicide in Jefferson County and the prevalence of other destructive behaviors, such as drug/alcohol abuse and youth violence.

At Helping Kids Thrive gain insight as to why life if easier for some kids and not for others, why some kids involve themselves in dangerous activities and others avoid them, why some “beat the odds” and others don’t.

Classes include topics such as:

The Elementary Years: Foundation for Healthy Growth
The Teen Years: Framing Boundaries and Expectations
Is it a Phase or a Time to Worry
Empowering Successful Kids
Techno-savvy Parenting: Kids and Online Communications (Social networking, cell phones, etc.)
