Jefferson Hills -

Family Involvement and Support

Family involvement is essential to the successful treatment of adolescent. From the point of referral, Jefferson Hills encourages families and other significant persons to participate in all aspects of the program.

The goal of family involvement is to facilitate the achievement and retention of positive behavior change, to bring about changes in the family system that support these changes, and to help the youth transition effectively back to the community.

Treatment Staff

Each of our seven units has a treatment team comprised of direct care counselors, shift supervisors, and case manager/therapists who provide 24-hour care. Jefferson Hills also employs licensed psychologists and psychiatrists who provide quality services such as consultation, testing, and medication management. Training includes but is not limited to childcare practices, de-escalation procedures, CPR, First Aid, suicide prevention, crisis management, normal adolescent development and professional boundaries.

Education Program

The on-site schools are fully accredited by the Colorado Department of Education. Special education services are provided to the students by experienced, certified teachers in accordance to the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Residents enjoy individualized and group instruction in a small classroom setting. Pre-vocational and computer opportunities enhance the educational experience. Jefferson Hills works closely with the home school district as needed. Credits are earned for transitions back to public school or a less restrictive setting. GED testing is available.

Medical Services

Jefferson Hills provides both routine and emergency medical care for our residents. A full time licensed nurse is on site Monday through Friday. Nurse practitioners provide physicals for new admissions and the medical director oversees the services. Ongoing care is provided for chronic ailments as well as immunizations. Residents are referred to specialists in the community.

Recreation

Both sites house a large gym and fenced in outdoor areas for recreation. Inside, outdoors and off-grounds activities are scheduled in accordance to the treatment plan and safety/security issues of each resident.
