Happy New Year!

It’s a new year…a clean slate. For many of us, it’s a time of reflection, renewed hope and resolutions. How will you make the most of the next 365 days? Consider adding a couple of these tips to your routine to make it a happy, healthy year!

Simplify your life. Try rising early one day a week. Create a calmer environment in your home or office. Enjoy the simple pleasures. Get outdoors.

Connect more with others. Spend more time with family and friends. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, animal shelter or other charity. Do Good, Feel Good.

Keep the main thing the main thing. Prioritize, do less, slow down.

Declutter your home, office and mind. Watch one hour less TV and invest that time in tackling the clutter. Organize (finally) that messy room, garage, or basement. If you haven’t used/worn it in a year, get rid of it!

Smile. Laugh, Laugh Often. Find the humor in situations. The average preschooler laughs or smiles 400 times a day. That number drops to only 15 times a day by the time people reach age 35.

Unplug. Reduce time wasters. Surf the internet less, turn the TV off. Take a break from cell phones, email and Blackberry’s.

Get Active. Use the stairs instead of elevators or park at the far end of the parking lot if possible.

Breathe. Try taking full abdominal breaths several times a day. This is not only great for your body, but can help you clear your mind, if only for a few moments each day.

Get Some Rest. 30% of Americans don’t get the sleep they need to recover from daily stressors. Strive for 7 - 8 hours each night. Establish a bedtime routine, count sheep and rest your head.
