Community Thanks Jefferson Center For 50 Years - 4/30/2008

More than 500 community and business leaders recently showed their appreciation for the Center's first 50 years of service and the thousands of lives that have been changed. "Destinations and Dreams," Jefferson Center's 50th Anniversary Gala was held on April 17th at the Arvada Center with Honorary Chair First Lady Jeannie Ritter. The sold-out event honored the staff and supporters of the Center who have provided services and work to ensure a healthy community. Full Story

 

Better to aid mentally ill outside of jail, report says - 4/19/08

One of every five inmates jailed in the seven- county Denver metro area has a serious mental illness, and housing them takes a $34.4 million annual bite out of the counties' tight budgets, according to a new report by a Metro Area County Commissioners' task force. Full Story

Hall Accepts State & National Appointments - 2/2/2008

Gov. Bill Ritter appointed Harriet Hall, Jefferson Center for Mental Health president and chief executive officer, to the Governor's Community Corrections Advisory Council. In addition, the national behavioral healthcare association, MHCA Inc., re-elected Hall to its board of directors for 2008. Full Story

 

Mental health leaders honor local legislator - 1/31/2008

Sen. Betty Boyd, (D) District 21, was chosen based on her support for mental health, participation in the mental health caucus and support for mental health legislation. She received her award earlier this month at a ceremony at the Second Saturday Breakfast Forum sponsored by the Jefferson County Democrats. Full Story

 

Local Mental Health Center Earns National Honors - 11/2007

Jefferson Center earned its award for helping inmates with mental illness return to the community and avoid the costly corrections system in the future. It helps prison inmates who have serious and persistent mental illness, after they are released back into the community. Full Story
