Family Services/Outpatient & Case Management

Studies indicate that outpatient treatment is highly effective for a variety of disorders. At Jefferson Center we provide a broad array of outpatient services that target specific symptoms and problems, are often short-term, frequently provided in a group or family setting, and increasingly use evidence-based treatment approaches (such as cognitive behavioral therapy — CBT).

At Jefferson Center Family Services, treatment is a partnership between the therapist, child and family or caregiver. We believe in providing care in the least restrictive setting in order to keep the child or adolescent in the community and the family intact. Families are an integral part of the treatment process because families are such an important resource. Research shows when families are involved in treatment with their child, the length of treatment may shorten and its effectiveness increases.

Treatment is highly individualized and depends upon the child or adolescent’s diagnosis and presenting symptoms. Outpatient treatment is focused on an “episode of care”, the therapist works with the family to focus treatment on a specific issue. When the treatment is focused on a specific issue, and is timelimited based on the level of need, progress in treatment is more rapid. Family Services at Jefferson Center focus on developing skills and building on family strengths, and include:

  • Clinical Case Management
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
